THE headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service, in Abuja, was gutted by fire on Sunday, according to the Service.

The fire was said to have affected some of the offices at the NIS headquarters, located along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Road.

The fire incident was disclosed by the Service on its twitter handle, @nigimmigration.

The NIS added however that the fire was put out by the Federal Fire Station and the support of sister agencies around the airport.

“A fire incident occurred in our Service Headquarters this Morning. It affected some of our Offices. The fire has been put out by our Federal Fire Station and support from other agencies around the Airport,” the NIS tweeted.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated. We assure the public that the incident will not in any way affect the discharge of our services,” it added.
