The Next Cash and Carry Supermarket in Jahi District, Abuja, owned by a former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has gone up in flames.
The fire outbreak which took place on Boxing Day, from a video circulated online, saw people within the area of the incident scampering for safety in the midst of confusion.
Obi was the former vice presidential candidate at the 2019 general elections under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
As at the time of filing this report, the cause of the inferno and the extent of damage could not be ascertained but firefighters later arrived at the scene to put out the fire.
This comes a few months after another multi-million naira shopping centre, Ebeano supermarket, Lokogoma, Abuja, was gutted by fire.
