FORMER National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olisa Metuh, has finally been released from prison in adherence to a court order.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had arraigned Metuh on seven counts of money laundering for allegedly receiving N400 million from the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Metuh was, consequently, on February 25, 2020, sentenced to seven years in jail by the Federal High Court in Abuja, after being found guilty.
However, the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, December 16, nullified the sentence, ruling that Metuh’s conviction could not stand because it was tainted with bias.
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, was one of those who were quick to welcome Metuh back to the society.
“Welcome back home Olisa Metuh. Tough times don’t last… And to Justice Okon Abang, you will one day reap the rewards of the hardship and suffering your miscarriage of justice has made many Nigerians to go through,” he tweeted.
