Former works minister resigns from PDP

Mike Onolememen, a former minister of works and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, has announced his resignation from the party.

The party chieftain has sent his resignation letter to the party chairman in Edo State, Tony Azerbaijan.

He stated that he was no longer interested in being a party member.

Onolememen was a founding member of the main opposition party and has been in the party since 1998.

He accused Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, of taking the party as his private property since becoming a member a couple of years ago.

“I write to formally inform you and the entire members of the PDP, that I am resigning my membership from the party, effective immediately,” he said.

He said that the decision followed due consultation following the protracted conflict in the party.

“I want to use the opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of the journey since I joined the party in 1998.”
