Four fake soldiers arrested for impersonation in Lagos

Policemen attached to Iju Division, Lagos State Police Command have arrested four fake soldiers.

The fake soldiers were arrested in a Mazda vehicle on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at about 1:30 pm within Iju area of Lagos
The suspects identified as Samuel Abel ‘28, Victor ljeemai 35, Lukman Salabiu 43 and Oyinyechi Macus 30 were nabbed during a routine patrol led by Chief Superintendent of Police, Gbenga Stephen, the Divisional Police Officer, Iju
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson Lagos State Police Command, Superintendent of Police, Benjamin Hundeyin said the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba for further investigation.”

Also, officers of the Rapid Response Squad have recovered two guns and one cartridge from fleeing suspected robbers at Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos State.

The Commander RRS, Chief Superintendent of Police, Yinka Egbeyemi, said that the Command, acting on credible intelligence, directed one of the squad’s tactical teams to patrol the area to forestall criminal activities in the environment.

“The directive was premised on the sighting of nocturnal movement of some strange faces in the area.

“The team during patrol of the area around 2:00 a.m heard sounds of gunshots and raced to the scene.

“The suspects on sighting the team dropped an object and fled the scene.

“On combing the area, the policemen recovered two locally made shot guns and one live cartridge near the point the men were spotted.”

Egbeyemi said that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, had ordered thorough investigation to fish out the suspects.

“The CP, while commending the team, has ordered a full scale investigation and a sustained hunt for the fleeing criminals.

“Alabi assured Lagosians that no stone will be left unturned as the command intensifies efforts at arresting crime rate across the state,”
he said.
