The Osun State Police Command has prosecuted four suspects for allegedly breaking into some homes and carting away properties worth N1, 850,000.
The suspects, Segun Oladosu (a.k.a. Memory), 23; Anifowose Biliaminu, 28; Idowu Wahab, 46; and Badmus Kazeem (a.k.a. Small) 32, allegedly committed the offence in the wee hours of July 29, 2022, around Oke-Onitea and Popo areas of Osogbo, Osun State.
The four were arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo for burglary, stealing, conspiracy and unlawful collection of stolen items.
According to Police prosecutor, Elisha Olusegun, the defendants and others at large, were not first time offenders.
The charge brought against them read that “You, Segun Oladosu a.k.a. Memory; Anifowose Biliaminu, Idowu Wahab, Badmus Kazeem a.k.a. Small and others at large on 29th of July, 2022 at about 1am at Oke-Onitea area of Osogbo in the Osogbo Magisterial District did conspire to commit felony to wit house breaking and stealing.
“You (defendants) and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did break and enter into the house of one Adebisi Nofisat Ololade and steal one iPhone 6, one iPhone 11, Promax, one Apple laptop, one HP laptop, one iPad, two new pairs of canvass and one wrist watch valued at N900, 000 (Nine hundred thousand naira).
“You did steal one iPhone 6, iPhone 11, ProMax, one Apple laptop, one HP laptop and one iPad, two new pairs of canvass and one wrist watch all total valued at N900, 000 (Nine hundred thousand naira) only properties of one Adebisi Nofisat Ololade.
“You and others at large, on the same date at about 4am, at Popo area, Osogbo in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did enter into the house of one Dauda Lekan and steal one iPhone 6X, one iPhone 12 and Promax, one Samsung phone and cash sum of N320, 000 (Three hundred and twenty thousand naira) only, with total value of N950, 000 (Nine hundred and fifty thousand naira) only.
“You and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district did steal one iPhone 6X, one iPhone 12 Promax, one Samsung phone and cash sum of N320,000 (Three hundred and twenty thousand naira) only, with total value of N950,000 (Nine hundred and fifty thousand naira) only properties of one Dauda Lekan.
“You, Segun Oladosu a.k.a. Memory, Anifowose Biliaminu, Idowu Wahab and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial district, did conduct yourselves in a manner to cause breach of peace between the Police and Judiciary by continually perpetrating the same crimes whenever you were granted bail from court.
The defendants were said to have contravened sections 410 and 383, punishable under sections 516, 411(1)(2), 390(9), 427 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, CAP 34, Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
However, they pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
Their counsel, Najite Okobe, prayed the court to grant them bail, following which Magistrate A. A. Adeyeba granted them bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties each in the same amount.
