Fuel tanker goes up in flames in Lagos

A fully loaded tanker with Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise called petrol, went up in flames on Tuesday evening at Mile-2, Otto Wharf, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos.

The truck as at 5p.m, was still on fire with no casualty recorded as at the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, disclosed that the area has been cordoned off to prevent secondary incident.

He said, “The agency activated its response plan to distress calls at the above location.

“Upon arrival at the scene by the agency’s response team , a fire outbreak from a fuel tanker and drums was encountered.

“Rescue operation still on going,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.

He urged members of the public to refrain from using any naked flame around the area.
