Funky Mallam: My marriage failed because I didn’t know my wife

After a failed marriage, Saeed Muhammad, popularly known as Funky Mallam, has decided to give marriage another shot. But inasmuch as he loves to settle down with his new found lover soon, Funky Mallam is wary of his past mistakes in marriage.

The mass communication graduate of Bayero University, Kano told The Point that he was trying his best not to repeat the same mistake he made before.

“Having a life partner is something one has to be convinced of in every ramification before marriage. One has to pray about it, because people might change their character as time goes on. You have to live with the person for some time and know what the person likes or does not like.

If you do not have things in common, you would start having problems of incompatibility and begin to live like strangers,” he said. Speaking about his failed marriage, Funky Mallam ad- mitted that he was under pressure to get married at the time and did not take enough time to know the woman he was getting married too.

He stated, “Though it was not as if they forced me into it, I think distance caused a problem. When you are here and the lady is somewhere else, you will not have a proper courtship. That means you will not be able to understand one another properly. You won’t be able to understand what she wants or does not want.

We are still cool together, though. Our son would be six years old in February.” Funky Mallam, however, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of 2016 career wise, despite the apparent harsh business situation in the country.

He added, “2016 was a good year for me, better than 2015. And I hope this year is better than last year. When people are talking about recession, I just laugh. Nigeria is not the only country that has experienced recession in the world.

America, China, Ghana and Russia had experienced recession too and they are great today. Recession actually makes people strong, it makes people to discover their talents and it makes a country to become self-reliant. With this recession, a lot of people would be up and doing.”
