FUTA students shut campus in protest over tuition hike

Students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure have embarked on a massive protest at the campus gate, to kick against the decision of the management to increase school fees.

The students crowded the gate on Monday morning, creating a blockade and preventing entry and exit of human beings and vehicles.

They demanded immediate reversal of the school fees to what they used to pay, vowing that they would continue demonstration until their demand is met.

While some of the undergraduates carried placards, others bore leaves and singing solidarity songs to drive home their messages.

Academic and commercial activities within the school were paralyzed as lecturers and other workers were turned back at the school gate.
