The Minster of Works, David Umahi has vowed not to betray the trust reposed in him by President Bola Tinubu, saying anyone who betrays the President would not escape God’s wrath.
He made this remark while applauding the President for appointing 62 percent of Christians into his cabinet.
Umahi made these known in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State while celebrating Sallah with Muslim faithful in the state, with a charge to them to ensure peaceful coexistence with Christians.
The minster described the Muslim/Muslim ticket of President Tinubu as the will of God and pledged unalloyed support to the President for a more progressive Nigeria.
Umahi disclosed that the President has never doubted his spendings of project funds, saying it would be wrong of him to betray him.
His words, “Firstly, I say Barka de Sallah to all Muslim faithful and Nigerians at large. The relationship between inter-faith is much better now under President Bola Tinubu. Surprising to Christians that he led the delegation to the Pope’s inauguration; that was very unique and first of its kind. I have always said that we are all serving one God in different ways. The most important thing is that God is love. So, any religion that is not preaching love is not of God. Both Muslims and Christians preach love.
“When this Muslim-Muslim ticket came, many people spoke before God could speak. It was the will of God, nothing happens unless God permits it. So, today, in the appointment of President Bola Tinubu, Christians are 62% while Muslims are just 38%. There is no regrets with the Muslim/Muslim ticket. The most important thing is dividends of democracy. We are happy with the inter-faith relationship.
“The commendation of Mr president is more than a trillion dollar for me. My loyalty is to God almighty first and then to Mr President. When a man gives you all the trust, you will be a devil to betray such man. Mr president has given me all the trust to do the work in Ministry of Works. Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project like N1.6trillion and his boss didn’t call him to ask, how did you go about it? I am talking about trust. If you betray such a man, the wrath of God will be upon you and if you betray Nigeria, the wrath of God will be upon you. I do my work with the fear of God.”
