Passengers along the Berger-Kara axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway have been trapped in gridlock following an accident that occurred on the section of the expressway on Thursday.

It was gathered from a commuter, Ismail, that the accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when a bus suspected to belong to a transport company and a container-laden truck collided.

Traffic was affected as the vehicles involved in the accident blocked the road.

Travellers coming from Berger inward to Mowe-Ibafo were trapped in the gridlock for several hours.

Ismail said, “There was an accident this morning at Kara along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

“The accident has caused gridlock stretching from Kara to Berger.”

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident.

She added that three persons were injured in the collision.

Okpe said, “There was no casualty, but three persons were injured. The injured persons have been taken to a nearby hospital.”

Okpe noted that efforts are ongoing to remove the accident vehicle to allow for the free flow of traffic.
