A group, Vanguard for Democratic Consciousness, has sued for peace to reign in Kogi State, accusing the Faleke Support Movement of plots to destabilise the state. While addressing journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Baba Abdulrazak, said that Kogi State could not afford to go to war “with their threat to make the state ungovernable.”

The group, which was reacting to a national newspaper report (not The Point) in which the Faleke group allegedly issued threats, claimed that the group intended to install Faleke as governor next Monday.

“The contempt for and order being displayed by our highly respected lawmaker, Honourable James Faleke, who should be a law protector, is already being leveraged upon by sponsored groups sympathetic to his cause to threaten the peace and well being of the state,” the group said.

The group also lamented that the Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, seemed to have abdicated his prime responsibility of protecting lives and property of the people of the state.

“The VDC hereby reminds Governor Wada that there is no vacuum in governance, hence he remains in the saddle till January 27, 2016 and will be held responsible for whatever transpires. The security operatives are enjoined to take judicial note of this,” the body stressed,
