Group tackles Senate committee over SGF

A socio-political organisation, the NorthEast Concerned Movement for Democracy has berated the Senate Committee on Humanitarian Crisis over alleged efforts to drag the name of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, in the mud.

The CMDN, in a press statement issued in Bauchi, and jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Alhaji Bala Saleh and Comrade Mai-Awaki Bababan-Fati, respectively, said that it had noted with displeasure that mischief makers were being sponsored to ridicule Lawal by fabricating unfounded allegations against his person.

The group said, “We note with displeasure and recently realised that mischief makers are being sponsored to ridicule the hard earned image of the SGF through formulating unfounded allegations, linking him to funds meant for the North-East Development Commission.

“And sadly enough, it is coming from the Senate Committee on Humanitarian Crisis under the leadership of Senator Shehu Sani, who is expected to concentrate on initiating vibrant laws to protect the interest of his immediate constituency in Kaduna State and whose political future is in limbo now that he suffers serious setback in his altercation with his sitting governor.”
