Group to raise N500bn to actualise 2023 Igbo Presidency

A group, World Igbo People’s Assembly, has said it is ready to stake N500bn on the actualisation of the 2023 Nigeria Presidency of Igbo Extraction project.

WIPA said it was long overdue for the Igbos to produce the Nigerian President, noting that Igbos around the world and well meaning Nigerians would contribute to the pool.

The Spokesperson for WIPA, Emeka Nwachukwu, said in a release that Nigerians should help in the search for an Igbo leader that could change Nigeria’s fortune. He said they were many in the land.

Nwachukwu said the project was cost intensive, but hoped that Ndigbo and Nigerians of good conscience all over the world would contribute to fund the project.

According to him, the group will soon begin consultation with Igbo leaders and Nigerians across the world.

Nwachukwu revealed that his team would meet with the “who is who” in Nigeria on the project, while congratulating Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Gen. Ishola Williams, Chief Edwin Clark, Alh Balarabe Musa, Chief Ebenezar Babatope, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Buba Galadima, and Tanko Yakassai, among other Nigeria statesmen, who he said were now disposed to the realisation of the project.

Reacting, the Spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, Chuks Ibegbu, noted that anything done to leapfrog the 2023 Igbo Presidency project was in order.

He, however, said everything should be done transparently and with due process.
