Group wants Ambode as next Ondo Governor

An Ondo State pressure group, Sunshine Liberation Movement (SLM) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to field Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, in the November 2020 gubernatorial contest in Ondo State, as it describes the performance of the incumbent, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as “far below expectation.”
The SLM in a statement signed by its president, Comrade Dipo Ajidahun, and secretary, Mrs. Aina Aduralere, said the call had become expedient in view of the urgent need to improve on socio-economic development in the state.
Ambode, the group claimed, is a biological indigene of Ondo State, “as his late father came from Ilaje community in the south senatorial district, and as God will have it, that district is the next in the line of governorship rotation.”
Pleading with the APC to persuade Ambode to accept the challenge of running for Ondo State governor, the group said, “This request is not to belittle him, being the governor over a bigger and richer state but a clarion call on him to come and be our Moses and rescue us from the current slavery.”
“One thing is clear: Ambode, by his performance, is a great achiever in Lagos and the only problem we gathered that he had with the people is that, he didn’t carry some party leaders along.
“As a human being, Ambode must have learnt his lessons and as a loyal party member, he submitted himself under the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and participated actively in all the campaigns of his successor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“So, why we want him in Ondo State is that, since 1983 when Papa Adekunle Ajasin left as governor, it can be stated philosophically that Ondo has never had another governor.
