GTBank trains financial journalists

GTBank has trained some financial journalists on interpretation of data at the Pan Atlantic University, Lagos.

The Head, Communication and External Affairs, GTBank, Ms. Oyinade Ogunade, explained that the programme was designed to support great business and finance journalism in Nigeria, and bring more transparency to African markets by helping to improve the way governments and business outfits gather and use financial
data.

Participants were selected from The Point Newspapers, The Nation Newspapers, News Agency of Nigeria, Business News, The Guardian, The Punch, Leadership, BusinessDay and ThisDay Newspapers, among
others.

Ogunade noted that the initiative was founded on a simple idea: better financial data and information, leading to more transparency and helping investors make better decisions, which in turn leads to economic growth and opportunity.

The bank’s spokesperson confirmed that the bank would continue to partner the media and introduce products and alternative channels that will allow the public to undertake their banking activities quickly, safely and conveniently.

GTB was established in 1990 and is regarded by Industry watchers as the best run financial institution within the Nigerian financial services space, due to its bias for world class corporate governance standards, excellent service quality and innovation.

The bank operates from over 200 branches within the country and has banking subsidiaries in Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom.
