Guber poll: Egunjobi begs Oyo voters for support

All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial running-mate in Oyo State, Mr. Samuel Modepoola Egunjobi, has appealed to the electorate in the state to elect the party on March 9, for the purpose of deriving a lot of benefits from the federal government.
He spoke while speaking with journalists at his Iganna countryhome at the weekend.
Egunjobi, who congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on their victory last week, urged Oyo voters to complete the synergy by voting for the state’s governorship candidate, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, and himself.
“The electorate in this state is egalitarian and robust, which was reflected in the highly competitive situation between us, the APC and the opposition party, as reflected in the conduct of the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
“But I can only appeal to our people to reflect on the benefits to be derived from joining the mainstream politics of Nigeria, rather than being in opposition and limiting opportunity for our sons and daughters to operate at the centre and bring benefits to Oyo State.
“Besides, the APC federal government has a lot of capital projects earmarked for execution in Oyo State in this second term, and voting the party in the state will make the actualisation of such projects in the face of lean resources, a seamless one.
“Apart from that, the APC government has increased electricity supply to 8,000 megawatts, up from abysmal 3,000 mw of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government.
“The improvement brought to road networks across the country is another milestone for the consideration of President Buhari for second term. Most of those roads were abandoned by the PDP administration and their dilapidated condition had claimed many lives. These include the Benin-Ore, Lokoja, and Lagos-Ibadan roads, to mention a few.
“Also, the railway project across the country is another giant stride in the administration of President Buhari. Soon, through the rail, Ibadan will be connected to Lagos,” he prodded.
Egunjobi also noted that Adelabu, the governorship candidate of the APC, is a tested and proven hand, “and he is from a reputable family in not just Oyo State but Yorubaland at large”, stressing that Adelabu already has a blueprint for the transformation of Oyo State.
