Some yet-to-be-identified armed men, on Tuesday, attacked a microfinance bank in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State and carted away an undisclosed amount of money from the Automated Teller Machine.

It was gathered that the robbers, who struck in the early hours of Tuesday, engaged some security men in a gun duel before fleeing with their loot.

The robbers, according to Adigun Daniel, spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, could not access the microfinance bank but damaged a Wema Bank’s ATM and carted away some.

“Unidentified robbers attacked Ifelodun Microfinance Bank with Wema Bank ATM machine, located at Thursday Market, along Oke-Aafo and robbed the ATM at about 2:15am on 30th November, 2021,” Daniel said.

The Command’s spokesman said that there was no casualty in the robbery attack.

A resident of the area (name withheld), who claimed he witnessed the robbery attack, said that the robbers arrived at the bank premises in police uniform, and tied the two security men guiding the bank.

It was gathered that a bullion van was sighted within the Ifelodun Microfinancial Bank premises on Monday.

Recall that three new generation banks in the town were robbed recently.

The affected banks had ceased to resume operations ever since.
