Many residents of Owo, the hometown of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, have been rushed to various hospitals after gunmen attacked the town.

The Ondo State Police Command, on Wednesday night, confirmed that there was a shooting incident in Owo.

The latest attack was said to have occured at a construction company as gunmen opened fire on workers and others in the vicinity.

In a tweet via the official handle of the state command @OndoPoliceNg, the security agency stated, “Tonight (Wednesday night), there was a shooting incident at CRANEBURG CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, Owo. Policemen are currently at the scene, victims have been taken to Hospital and they are in stable condition.”

Recall that terrorists had in June attacked the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, killing over 40 worshippers and injuring dozens of parishioners during a Sunday service.

The terrorist attack on the church had been described as a “massacre” and drew condemnation from both local and international organisations.

This recent attack came after Governor Akeredolu assured citizens that such would not happen again barely seven weeks after the gruesome massacre of about 41 worshippers of the Catholic Church.

Scores of other worshippers were injured and they have been receiving treatment in hospitals.
