Gunmen kill three policemen in Ebonyi/Enugu boundary checkpoint attack

Three policemen have lost their lives during an attack by gunmen at Ebonyi/Enugu boundary police checkpoint on Saturday evening.

The hoodlums reportedly stormed the checkpoint in two sienna buses at about 6pm and opened fire on the policemen manning the checkpoint.

The three policemen fatally injured were confirmed dead in a hospital.

The Ebonyi State Police Command confirmed the attack.

A short whatsApp message from the State police spokesman, SP Chris Anyanwu, reads:”Yesterday’s attack by unknown gunmen at Ebonyi/Enugu boundary took place at about 1808hrs.

“Three police personnel of Operation Safer Highway, fatally injured. Later confirmed dead. Hoodlums operated in two sienna vehicles, drove into the Check-poiñt, opened fire on the policemen.”
