ARMED hoodlums, on Sunday night, stormed communities in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, unleashing violence and destroying many shops and vehicles.

The unknown gunmen reportedly beheaded a village head in the attack, which was said to have continued till Monday morning.

The Point learnt that the attacks could have been perpetrated by some native doctors and other criminal elements who operated at night in the affected areas.

The head of the community leader was reportedly placed on a table around the market in Okporo community.

About five persons have so far been beheaded since violence broke in the neighbouring communities.

It was gathered that over 20 shops were razed and more than 10 vehicles burnt in the attack.

Residents of the communities have however cried out to the state government to come to their rescue and fish out the criminal elements operating freely at night.

“They have been beheading people and burning houses. They must be brought to book. We are all living in fear,” a resident said.
