Haruna may join Mikel, Martins, others in China

Former Under-20 midfielder, Haruna Lukman, is seeking a new adventure in far away China.

The former Monaco of France player is seriously considering any offer to resurrect his dwindling football career.

The most gifted former junior international may, however, like to pitch his tent with the array of Nigerian stars who are plying their trade in the Chinese Football League.

Lukman, who is not sure of the where his next step would be, has been struggling to secure a good club but nothing has come his way. His agents tried their best to comb Europe and South America last season but all to no avail.

“I am sure I will get a club soon but I don’t want to make noise about it. I have been working underground and I know everything will definitely work towards my heart desire,”he said.

In China, Nigerians are already making waves with Super Eagles skipper, John Mikel Obi, Chinedu Ogbuke, Obafemi Martins, Odion Ighalo and a host of others. Ighalo, former Watford striker, who successfully netted 16 EPL goals in 37 matches, on January 31, completed his move to the CSL side, Changchua Yatai, for a whooping £20m as against his previous £8million earnings at Watford. That’s roughly $615,000 per week.

Mikel, after spending 10 years at Chelsea, the 29 years old, turned down three other offers to join China’s Tianjin TEDA signing a three-year deal worth £140,000 a week.
