History maker! Ebere eyes trophy haul at Barca FA

 

Super Falcons defender, Ebere Ngozi, has expressed delight over her move to Cypriot Women First Division club, Barcelona FA, and vowed to win trophies for the club. Only recently, the club announced that they had pulled off a transfer coup with the signing of the Nigerian international on undisclosed terms.
The defender joins Barcelona FA from French Division 1 Féminine club, Paris Saint-Germain, where she spent two years.
Ebere was delighted to join Barcelona FA, saying she wanted to win trophies with her new team.
‘’Limassol is a very beautiful city and I also love the weather of the island. I’m really very happy about my choice of playing at Barcelona FA Women.
‘’I feel very good playing for the team which was a great challenge for me and I came to the team to reinforce it with my experience and lead it to success,” Ebere told reporters.
She added : ‘’My personal goal is no more than giving me 100% of my ability to help as much as I can. I love this group, I love the girls and I think there is a very young talent in our team that will help the team too much.
‘’We want to lead Barcelona FA Women on the road to success and this is the only place in Cyprus and Barcelona FA Women. I am here to write history and win titles with Barcelona FA.’’
The former Rivers Angels star made her debut for her new employer against Apollon Ladies in the Super Cup on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Community Stadium in Parekklisia.
Ebere was born on August 5, 1991, and in 2014, she was part of the Nigerian domestic team Rivers Angels who won the Nigerian Women Football League and Nigeria Federation Cup double.
During the course of the season, Ebere scored seven goals, including the third and final goal on the final match of the season in the 3-1 victory over Sunshine Queens.
Ebere was signed by the French team Paris Saint-Germain in September 2015 on a two-year contract. She said at the time, “I am here to give the best of myself and to win trophies, I am very motivated by this new challenge that awaits me here in Paris. It’s a dream come true.”
She made her debut in a Division 1 Féminine match against Olympique Lyonnais on September 27, 2015.Two months later, she was placed on the five person shortlist for African Women’s Footballer of the Year; she suggested that this nomination came as a result of her recent performances. During the course of her first season, she played in eight matches; six in the Division 1 Féminine and two in the Coupe de France Féminine.
She was also part of the Nigeria women’s national football team squads at the African Women’s Championship in 2012 and the winning team of 2014. She was also in the squad at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
