Homeboy, Odoh, eyes PGA Tours

Young and promising golfer, Andrew Oche Odoh, is every woman’s dream. Interestingly, for now, he has shut his eyes to women, saying they can distract him from fulfilling his professional dream.
Odoh, a very hard working player, who has already garnered about twenty trophies since turning pro in 2004 and won numerous others as an amateur, said that the thinking in some quarters is that he should be slowing down by now. But the never-say-die golfer has tall dreams and aspirations. His eyes are focused on the big money available at top Europe and America golf events.
With his outstanding marks in Nigeria and the sub-region, Odoh, last December, proved he was still the power house of West African golf when he won the Equatorial Guinea Open.
Playing in a field of top professionals from Nigeria and other neighbouring countries, Odoh closed with a 2-under 70 that gave him a winning purse of $15,000.00.
That achievement, to Odoh, was a stepping stone towards his future aspirations. “I want an opportunity to be on Champions Tour in the US or the United Kingdom where I will compete and get on top of the rankings and gradually move my way to the lucrative PGA Tours.
“I want to play golf to the highest level. I want Nigeria’s flag to be flown on the golf courses in Europe and America like other golfers,” he said.
One of six boys in a family of 10, Odoh is of the believe that the sky would be his limit with the support from corporate organisations.
“If I could get a company that would give me a 10-year sponsorship, then I can beat my chest and say yes, between point A and B, I will achieve something internationally,” he said.
At the moment, it is only the former Senate President, David Mark, that comes to his aid anytime he wants to make international trip.
Odoh turned pro in South Africa in 2004 and has won 13 titles since, including four outside the country. He won the Pinnacle Open in 2005, as well as three CMCL Open titles. He also won the Memorial Open in 2015, won the ULO and added the Delta Governors Cup, which he won by 11 shots.
Outside the country, Odoh has won the Cameroon International Open twice and the Equatorial Guinea Open twice, the last coming in December last year.
