How my uncle raped me serially, aborted my pregnancy with grandma’s connivance -13-year-old girl

BY TIMOTHY AGBOR, OSOGBO

A 13-year-old girl (name withheld) has narrated how her step-uncle serially raped her with the connivance of her grandmother whom she was living with.

The girl disclosed that ever since she started staying with her grandmother, her son, simply identified as Femi would sneak into her room, sexually abuse and force her to bed.

Narrating her ordeals in Osogbo after she was rescued from her grandmother who had allegedly taken to her to a health practitioner in Edunabon, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State for abortion, the teenage victim accused Femi of threatening her life whenever he wanted to satisfy his sexual urge.

“It happened several times. Uncle Femi will ask me not to tell anyone and that if I do, he will kill me. When my grandmother discovered I was pregnant, I told her that uncle Femi slept with me by force. It was then she took me to a man in Edunabon who removed the pregnancy,” she said.

When the matter got to a human rights activist in the state, Citizen Lola Wey, she reported it at Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo.

Wey told The Point that, “The case of a thirteen year old girl who was allegedly serially defiled by one Femi said to be her mother’s step brother was reported to us. The woman who is said to be the grandmother of the girl and who is also the mother of the suspect confirmed to us that the defilement resulted in a two month pregnancy which has been aborted by the same grandmother with whom she lived through the services of a health practitioner, Lawrence, who operates in Edunabon, Ife North Area Local Government Area of Osun State. The case was reported at Dugbe Police Station by me.”

It was gathered that the suspects including Femi, the grandmother and Lawrence were subsequently arrested by the Police and confessional statements obtained from them.

After necessary examination on the victim, the case was said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe.
