For the Alimi family of Ile-Agbo, Oke-Ofa Atipe area of Ibadan, Oyo State capital, April 21, 2022 would remain unforgettable in their memory. It was the day the family members set their eyes again on their mother, Mrs. Sherifat Alimi, after being declared missing for 40 days.

According to the family members of the sexagenarian mother of four, they had been jittery over what had become of their mother considering the frightening ordeals of missing persons in the country.

Mrs. Opeyemi Hammed, the third child of the family with whom the woman lived before the encounter, said that her mother informed her that she was going to a prayer mountain at Ojoo area of Ibadan on the said day but never returned home at the agreed time.

She lamented that she expended a lot in search of her missing mother as she visited churches, mosques, herbalist homes and several other places to make inquiries which unfortunately, did not yield any positive result.

Also, the first child of the family, Mrs. Fatima Lawal, while sobbing, revealed that some prophets told her that her mother was in captivity.

A non-governmental organisation, Pro Laborei Dei, was said to have found the woman in a pool of blood at Bodija Sawmill area of Ibadan on April 29 and rushed her to the University College Hospital, Ibadan. The NGO footed her medical bill.

“Alimi sustained injuries on her head and leg while she also had a fracture on her right hand during her encounter with some messengers of death. She, however, had not been able to recount her experience in detail as she had yet to recover from the trauma she went through as of the time of filing this report”

A representative of the NGO, Mrs. Ngozi Nwachukwu, said that the organisation helped the badly injured woman as part of its social responsibilities.

Nwachukwu explained that the organization broke the news to Radio Nigeria in order for the station to broadcast it to the public for the attention of her family members.

Following the broadcast by the radio station during one of its weekly programmes, the family members linked up with their mother.

At the reunion meeting held at the Northwest 3 Ward of the University College Hospital, Mrs. Alimi, who burst into tears at the sight of her four children, expressed gratitude to God and those who battled to save her life.
