…says defiled daughter now in miserable condition
Mr. Chris Ewuru is certainly a man with a mixed bag of woes. Over so many years, Ewuru has experienced and endured a variety of misfortunes, especially concerning his children.
He has also lost the entire source of his livelihood, as he now works as a security guard and lives in a room apartment with his family.
Like the Biblical Job, Ewuru has lost a 20-year-old son, while his 18-year-old daughter, who was defiled by a neighbour since 2008, still remains abnormal, psychologically unbalanced, unable to walk unaided and urinates uncontrollably on herself. All of these are due to the traumatic experience from her rape over ten years ago.
Having reached the end of his tether, Ewuru has cried out about how unkind life has been to him and his family. He told our correspondent that his 20-year-old son, Kingsley, just died mysteriously after three days of suffering from malaria and typhoid.
The distraught and dejected Ewuru said Kingsley had finished his secondary education and was working with Flour Mills of Nigeria, when death suddenly snatched him.
He recalled that when Kingsley was just seven years old, he fell under a car and the back tyre of the vehicle almost ran over his head.
“We had to rush Kingsley to the hospital and by the grace of God, he survived. So, why should he die now? Why should he die when he was the person assisting me financially with my wife and other members of the family? At times, when I didn’t have money, I would tell him and he would quickly run to any bank with his ATM and would collect cash and give it to me,” he said sobbing.

But with the sudden death of Kingsley, such financial assistance for Ewuru and the surviving members of his family has abruptly ceased!
The harrowing experience of his son’s sudden death brought back to Ewuru the thoughts of other misfortunes that have so far befallen his family.
He said, “My last daughter, Chinenye also suffered when she was in nursery school. A large iron fell on her, breaking her spinal cord and leg. I had to rush her to the hospital. I later took her to a native doctor, where she was treated successfully.
“My first daughter, Oma, was defiled by our co-tenant when she was just nine years old. Since then till now, Oma has not recovered from the shock. The incident changed her life! She has become abnormal to the extent that she cannot walk on her own. When she tries to walk, she will fall. She was a very clever girl in school but after she was raped by James Akpan, who was 42 years old then (2008), Oma has become a shadow of herself.
“Although James Akpan was arrested and charged to court, he spent only 15 months in jail and came out a free man. Till date, my daughter, Oma is still suffering from the shock and pains of that cruel act. But I don’t think what Akpan did to her was ordinary. How could the act affect her sense of reasoning? How could it affect her balance, because she can no longer walk? I have spent so much money to make things normal for her, but to no avail. Akpan probably used my daughter for some ritual. That’s what I believe. Oma had to drop out from primary school because after the incident, she began to urinate on her body; she could not control herself any more. Her head became abnormally big. Imagine at her age- 20 years, she cannot walk on her own, she cannot control her urine.”
Ewuru said he had taken his daughter to several places for a solution to her problem to no avail. She has been taken to both private and public hospitals, native doctors and churches for both medical and spiritual healing, yet her condition has remained the same.
But the distraught father has now thrown the challenge of a divine healing for his daughter to the Founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, Idimu, Lagos, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua.
He said he had tried several times to see the cleric at his SCOAN headquarters for a divine solution to his daughter’s predicament, but he had yet to succeed.
Ewuru expressed hope that Prophet T.B Joshua had the spiritual solution to his daughter’s health issue, adding that he only needed to see the cleric to get the miracle that would completely heal the teenager.
He said, “Now, I want to see how we can see Prophet T.B Joshua one – on- one so that he would lay his hands on her and also tell us where the problem is coming from. I was living at Palace Road, Olodi- Apapa, where that devil called Akpan defiled my daughter before we later relocated to Oyegunle Street, Olodi- Apapa. Akpan was selling fairly used clothes at Trinity Bus Stop, but I don’t know if he is still there. Because of the shame arising from the incident- I mean Akpan defiling my then nine-year-old daughter on December 28, 2008- his wife abandoned him and married another man.
“That man called Akpan is a real devil. He is evil. He has used diabolical means on my daughter. My daughter, who was hale and hearty, has become a shadow of herself. I have suffered so much on these children. Before, I was changing cars. There was a day I bought five motorcycles at the same time. I had five before. So, with ten motorcycles for commercial transport, I should not be as poor as these. People would bring returns for me on a daily basis. But today, I don’t even have one motorcycle. You can see where I’m living- inside a room. Problems have wrecked me. I work as a security guard with a
company.
“I have become a laughing stock among people who respected me because I used to assist them. Now, I don’t have money. Every day, I think about what must have gone wrong. I don’t know. I have been praying to God to help this my daughter to come out of this her predicament. I will try and see Prophet T.B Joshua. I have been to the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) many times, but we could not see him. You know the church is a very big church. I will keep trying; one day God will smile on my family and Oma will be healed completely. May God help us.”
But the Medical Director of St. Mila’s Hospital, Dr. Sunny Oshodi, said the teenage girl was passing through a psychological trauma, which would take a long time to heal.
Oshodi added that shock, fear and pain could affect the functioning of the brain.
According to the medical expert, there is a ring in the anus and another one in the urethra, both of which are controlled and influenced by the brain and help to hold faeces and urine for a long time until the person is ready to discharge
them.
He further explained that while in a man the hole is inside the penis, it is above the vagina in a woman, adding that a tear during forceful sexual intercourse with a minor could tear up the vagina upto the anus urethra, which could make it difficult for such a person to withhold urine.
Oshodi, therefore, advised the parents of the victim to seek the help of a professional psychologist to work on the
teenager.
