If my husband isn’t good in bed, I’ll teach him – Miss Pepeye

Until recently, Bolatito Sowunmi played the role of Miss Pepeye in the comic sitcom, ‘Papa Ajasco.’ The actress left the position, which she occupied for more than a decade for other younger talents to fill.

While speaking with Broadway TV recently, Miss Pepeye was quoted as saying she can’t date a man who is not good in bed. Bloggers and other online platforms picked the story and it became a topic of discussion.

But she has now told The Point that she didn’t say the exact thing that trended. According to her, the question was, ‘Can you marry a man that is not good in bed?’

She said, “I need to clear something here. I think in journalism, the headline is written in a way to capture the interest of people. So, sometimes journalists coin headlines, knowing that bad things or news attract Nigerians.

“If you watch the interview, in response to the question, I said sex is very good in marriage because I’ve heard all manner of stories of broken marriages because of sex. I do not think I want to experience something that makes me sad. But if it is someone I love and he is my husband, I would teach him what I want. I think that is the right thing to do.”

On what the reaction of her man was when he heard the news, she disclosed that he did not feel bad because he knows she is natural and there is understanding in the relationship.

Pepeye said, “My boyfriend didn’t feel anything because I am a very natural person. Whoever I have a relationship with, we are friends; we should be able to communicate.”

She admitted that being in the limel i g h t was a bit challenging, as people were always quick to judge or crucify you.

She added, “Being in the limelight could be a bit challenging but it is fine and that comes with the job. It is left for you to understand the situation you are in and find a solution to handling everything that comes your way.

“I am still attached to Miss Pepeye’s role because the change is very recent. I do not expect Nigerians to quickly forget the memories. I have played the role for quite a while, but there are other opportunities I needed to explore and I needed to give chance to other people as well. I think I started Miss Pepeye in my 20s and I am in my 30s.”
