Ikeme targets Russia 2018 with Eagles

Nigeria’s goaltender, Carl Ikeme, is sure of leading Nigeria’s Super Eagles to the Russia 2018 World Cup, with a promise to do everything possible to make his dream fulfilled.

According to the 30-year-old shot stopper, his dream is to play in the highest football fiesta, as well as feature in the English topflight soon.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers’ goalkeeper, who recently extended his stay at the club till 2019, said he was not fully involved when his side got to play in the EPL the last time.

Ikeme’s deal was to expire at the end of the current season, but has now committed to staying at the Molineux for two and a half more years. The 30-year-old has been at Wolves since he was 15, even though he has been on loan on different occasions, before finally settling down at Wolves three seasons ago.

“When Wolves were promoted last time from the Championship, I didn’t really play that many games and then I didn’t play when we got there,” Ikeme told Wolves website. He added, “My ambition is to play Premier League football with Wolves and that is what I am working towards. And with Nigeria as well, I want to get to the World Cup in 2018.Those are my main long-term aspirations.”
