I’m going from one party to the other because of you, Agboola Ajayi tells Ondo indigenes

… Formally declares for ZLP

THE Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, officially joined the Zenith Labour Party on Friday, four days after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.

While addressing the crowd that gathered at the Secretariat of the ZLP in Akure, Ajayi who had decamped from the ruling All Progressives Congress shortly before the PDP primary election, said he was going from one party to the other because of his love for the people of Ondo State.

He said he was determined to rescue the people from the bad governance under Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s APC administration.

The Deputy Governor dumped the main opposition party after he lost to Eyitayo Jegede in the party’s July 22 Governorship primary election.

The ZLP has submitted Ajayi’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s candidate for the October 10 governorship election in the state.

The new ZLP candidate, however, urged his supporters to get their voter cards and also defend their votes on the day of election.

The National Leader of the party, a former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, was not at the venue of the declaration.

The Chairman of ZLP in the state, Joseph Akinlaja, said, “Our party’s ideology is rooted in the socio-democratic ethos, that is fighting for the greatest good for the greatest number of the citizenry, fighting against inequality in the society, oppression of the underprivileged and poverty.”
