I’m studying physiotherapy to satisfy my parents, I’ll end up acting – Jemima Ogunde

Acting nude in movies? This is a role delectable actress, model and presenter, Jemima Ogunde, would never touch with a ten-foot pole.

As far as Jemima Ogunde is concerned, taking up such a role in movies will never be an option to give the slightest consideration.

Talking about her foray into the make-belief world, Jemima, popularly known as Leila, says, ”I started acting about three and a half years ago. My first project was ‘Jungle Jewel’, a movie produced by Ufuoma McDermott. The movie is about human trafficking. Most times, I always try to select movie roles that are not only entertaining to people but also have a message to pass across.

In choosing between acting and medicine, for now I will stick to acting because so far “Shuga,” one of the movies I have acted in, is still my number one job that I would say has put me on the map; that has put me all over the world

“And I try as much as possible to select roles whereby someone watching it will gain from it or someone who is watching has been there or is going through that, and in one way or the other, finds a relief from it. That is why I will never go completely nude in a scene. Never, ever, ever go completely nude in a scene.

The undergraduate of physiotherapy at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, also says that acting will be a major career for her, even more than the medical line as the profession has put her in the limelight.

She says, “In choosing between acting and medicine, for now I will stick to acting because so far “Shuga,” one of the movies I have acted in, is still my number one job that I would say has put me on the map; that has put me all over the world. “Shuga” has done more for me in my career than any other job I have done.

“Let me tell you, while I was in secondary school, I just knew that apart from being science-inclined, there was another side of me. And I was doing a lot of things to figure out what it was, and so going for that audition for Tinsel was one of it.”

As regards fashion, the Edo- born actress explains that she is a fashionista and she loves simple and chic clothes that will fit her body perfectly and at the same time make her comfortable.

” I love fashion, clothes, shoes, name it! I like anything that is simple and fitted on my body. So long as it is comfortable, I will definitely go for it” she explains.
