The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned the impeached chairman of the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Adewale Adedayo.
The Ogun State Police Command arrested Adedayo on Monday at his residence in Ijebu Ife and brought him to its headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the state capital.
Adedayo was charged to court on Tuesday morning over a petition filed by the Ogun State Government against the erstwhile chairman on allegation of diversion of funds meant for council areas in the state.
The impeached council chairman appeared before a Magistrate Court at Isabo, Abeokuta.
Recall that Adedayo had accused Governor Abiodun of diverting statutory Federal allocations of all the 20 Local councils in the state and also sought the probe of the governor over the allegations.
He also petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, seeking Abiodun’s probe on the allegations.
Following the accusation made by Adedayo, councillors of Ijebu East Local Government Area announced the suspension and the impeachment of the embattled council boss.
