Insecurity: Umahi donates security gadgets to Police

As part of efforts to improve the efficiencies of the Nigerian Police Force in combating the upsurge in criminal activities in the state, and shield law officers from untimely deaths, the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi has donated protective gadgets to the State Police Command.

Governor Umahi, represented at the handover ceremony by the Ebony State Commissioner for Boarder Peace and Internal Security, Stanly Okoro-Emegha, at the Police Headquarters, Abakaliki, noted that the personal protective gadgets included 90 helmets and 90 bulletproof aprons.

He expressed optimism that the gadgets would make the officers more equipped to eradicate in the state and carry out their duties without being harmed by criminal elements.

Governor Umahi also announced the ongoing construction of 12 residential buildings for 12 DPOs across 12 local government areas with exception of one LGA that already had.

“It is also time to let the press know that the governor is building residential quarters for 12 DPOs, so that they will have befitting homes and conducive environment to operate. The buildings will cost about 600milliin naira.

“As regards to Ebubeagu, I want to use this medium to let our Abuja based politicians know that Ebubeagu is a security outfit formed jointly by both the traditional rulers and town union leaders of various communities. Which is to complement efforts of security agencies. They are not after any politician. So far as you are going about your activities in line with the laws of Nigeria. Ebubeagu is to complement other security agencies to protect lives and properties,” he said.
