Inside Magodo : Fayose and his neighbourhood

The governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, is among the famous people in Nigeria, who has erected a building at Magodo Phase 2, Lagos.
Fayose’s home, which is situated at Adetoro Adelaja Street, off Emmanuel Keshi, is a five-bed room apartment. Though the façade of the house is beautiful, the facilities do not look flamboyant.
According to a neighbour, who preferred to be anonymous, the house is always quiet whenever Fayose is not around. But, he disclosed that the governor loves cars.
“Inside the compound, there is what could be described as a parade of exotic cars of different brands and colours. Whenever he is around, we know because the entourage is always large.”
Another resident in the neigbourhood, who identified himself simply as Seyi, disclosed that Fayose walks freely on the street as any other person whenever he was in the estate.
He said: “I once met him at a pharmacy and he related well with everyone around. If no one tells you, it is hard to even know that he is a governor of a state. He has personal riot policemen and bodyguards. Some moved around with him, while others are permanently stationed on the premises of the house .” QuotationHe said there was a time he had a clash with the owner of the house next to him.
“The roof they made for their swimming pool extended to his yard and the particles from the roof were always littering his compound. He instructed his guards to cut off the portion that extended to his yard.
“The owner of the building ignored him. He said he didn’t want to enter into any trouble with Fayose”, the source revealed.
When The Point visited the residence, it was so obvious that a government official was residing there. Apart from the beautification of the house, the first major thing our correspondent spotted were the flags of Lagos, People’s Democratic Party’s and that of Nigeria. The frontage was decorated with a set of beautifully trimmed flowers, an American muscle sport car and a white escort Hilux car without registration number.
Though, we were not sure if he was inside the house at the time of our visit, an electric generating set was, however, running. Also, we gathered that his son, who is based in Lagos lives there.
Governor Ayodele Fayose is serving Ekiti State for a second time on the platform of PDP. During his first tenure, he was impeached. He, however, came back to power against all odds.
