The managing director, Fonrich technology, Mr. Nwachukwu Obina has recommended to Nigerians the use of inverter and solar system, saying it is more economical than generator.
Nwachukwu, in an exclusive interview with our correspondent , said inverter and solar energy are better for use at home compared to generator, adding that generator uses petrol or diesel as fuel to work which is expensive, while inverter charges from power supply or solar to generate light for the home.
However, he added that, “Inverter and solar system are used as an alternative to power supply and for them to last longer, it depends on the capacity of the loads being put on them. If it’s a small house, it lasts for eight hours or one, two days depending on the loads they are carrying.”
“Solar and inverter are not the same. Solar energy are 12volts and it works on 12volts appliances such as street lights, television and others, while inverter is 240volts machine which converts DC energies to electrical energy.” he
added.
Nwachukwu noted that the two electrical devices have their functions.
“Solar helps to charge the battery during the day when there is no light and without battery, they will not work because energy is stored in the batteries . So, the stored energy brings its best when needed and the inverter converts it to electrical energy.
“We are in Nigeria where people don’t know how to manage things. For two years now, I don’t use generator and is because I know how to use and manage my electrical appliances when we talk of using inverter, ” Nwachukwu said.
According to him, “I build it myself and when we want to build, maybe 2KVA inverter, it might take the whole of two, three days to produce one inverter and it cost much, but if producing up to 50, it is cheaper and we make more quantity only when we have customers that have ordered for them.
“As for my referrals, it is my handwork that pushes me; I can’t just tell you this is why you should patronise me. The quality of what customers get from the company makes them refer people more and more.”
