It won’t be easy sacking Saraki – Shehu Sani

All Progressives Congress senator, representing Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani,  has warned against the attempt to remove the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, illegally.

Already, the leadership of APC has demanded the immediate resignation of Saraki, following his defection from the ruling party to the Peoples Democratic Party.

But Sani, who also reiterated that he remained a key member of APC,  warned that issues surrounding Saraki’s removal may lead to unexpected crisis if not managed well.

He said the best way to handle the situation is to resolve the issues amicably between the caucuses on the floor of the Senate, adding that both sides are on equal advantage over the matter.

“What I advise is that it is dangerous to attempt to circumvent the law to remove the leadership of the National Assembly. And there are ways we can address these issues. From my knowledge of what is happening, particularly in the Senate, the numbers are not there. The numbers to remove the Senate President are not there. Also, the numbers to remove those on the side of the President are not there,” he said.

Sani, however, called for amicable settlement between the PDP and APC senators to move the country forward, adding that mutual accord between the National Assembly and the Executive is key to the survival of the current administration.

He warned that any illegal attempt to sack the leadership of the National Assembly will be dangerous.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna Central senator said he remained a key member of the ruling party, stressing that his recent suspension by APC members in his ward was illegal.

On the news making the rounds that some senators had already been promised juicy positions, Sani confirmed that he was aware of the development, but he didn’t subscribe to
it.

“I heard that senators were promised juicy carrots and I am not a rabbit. But what I know very well is that it was the PDP that promised  automatic tickets. The APC said there is no automatic ticket and I believe I am very much prepared for any form of primaries,” he said.
