It’s risky signing Osimhen, Ferdinand warns Man Utd

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has explained why it will be a risk for the Premier League club to sign Napoli forward Victor Osimhen.

The 24-year-old Nigeria international has been in great form for the Serie A side, helping them to lift the Scudetto this campaign with his 23 goals from 30 matches.

His displays for the Partenopei have caught the attention of a host of clubs in Europe with the Red Devils among those being linked with the Super Eagles star performer.

“Osimhen is a different kettle of fish,” Ferdinand said on his Five YouTube channel. “He’s 24; he’s scored goals in France and now in Italy. Won the league in Italy and knows how to win leagues.

“He’s been a No.9 at a dominant team in the football league. Is that transferable to the Premier League? No one knows that. That’s the chance Man United would have to take on him.

“That’s the only risk I see. He doesn’t know the league – that’s it. Ability-wise and profile, goalscoring, he ticks every box, but there is an unknown factor in does he know how to play in the Premier League. Can he adapt to the Premier League?”
Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly on the radar to sign Osimhen.
