The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that only 22.13% of the candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination scored 200 and above.
The examination board disclosed this in a statistical analysis for the 2025 UTME results released on Monday, revealing that 432,829 out of 1,955,069 candidates scored 200 and above.
According to the board, performance across score ranges as follows: 320 and above (4,756 or 0.24 percent), 300–319 (7,658 or 0.39 percent), 300 and above (12,414 or 0.63 percent), 250–299 (73,441 or 3.76 percent), 200–249 (334,560 or 17.11 percent).
The candidates who scored 160–199 are 983,187 or 50.29 percent; 140–159 (488,197 or 24.97 percent); 120–139 (57,419 or 2.94 percent), 100–119 (3,820 or 0.20 percent, while those who scored below 100 are 2,031 or 0.10 percent.
“As part of the results, 40,247 underage candidates were permitted to demonstrate their exceptional abilities. However, only 467 of these candidates (1.16%) achieved scores that meet the threshold for exceptional ability as defined for the UTME, with their performance in the subsequent three stages still pending,” JAMB noted.
“Of the total number registered, 97 candidates were involved in examination infractions, while 2,157 others are currently undergoing investigations for suspected malpractices.
“Additionally, 71,701 candidates were absent. Those facing biometric challenges are also under investigation, and those who are cleared will be rescheduled for examination at designated centres.
Furthermore, a few of the results, including those of blind candidates and others in the JEOG candidates group, are still being processed.
“A press conference to announce the individual results of candidates and to facilitate result checking will be held later this week,” JAMB said.
