Jibrin not qualified to tell President to quit –Reps deputy speaker

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yusuf, has lashed out at the suspended former chairman of the House Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, for demanding the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Jubrin said that Jubrin was too young and unfit to make such a sensitive demand on the President.

The ex-House Appropriation Committee chairman had last week taken to his twitter handle, asking Buhari to resign as the President for fail ing to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

Who is Hon. Jibrin to begin to analyse the cabinet of the President?

He had asked Buhari to leave the stage and hand over to a competent leader to steer the ship of the Nigerian state. But the deputy speaker, who is representing Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/ Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State attributed Jibrin’s outburst to lack of experience and advised him to write the Presidency on suggestions regarding how to govern better, rather than calling for Buhari’s resignation.

Yusuf, who spoke in Osogbo during an empowerment workshop on p ro c e s s i n g and marketing of plantain and mushroom, organised for youths and women in his constituency, said that there was nothing strange in President Buhari falling ill.

He said manifesting all sorts of ailments were a necessity of old age. Describing Buhari as an “old man,” Yusuf said, “The moment one gets to 40 years, there is likely to be one ailment that such person would be managing till death.

“Who is Hon. Jibrin to begin to analyse the cabinet of the President? He is just somebody who is trying to grow up. Don’t forget that Jubrin is just 40. He still lacks some basic experiences of life. Who is he to tell the President to resign? If he has anything to offer to the government, he should write or come to the public and offer solution to our problems.”

The deputy speaker also denied that there were issues between the Legislature and the Executive, saying, “It is just because people have not really understood what democratic governance is all about.”

Meanwhile, Yusuf distributed laptops to 173 men and women trained in Information and Communication Technology, at the workshop.

While addressing the beneficiaries at his party’s campaign office in Osogbo, Yusuf admonished them, especially the youths among them, to give priority to knowledge. He said that the empowerment programme was to reduce suffering among the youths, adding, “Lack of knowledge has been the bane of development of youths in the society.

“If you are not computer compliant, you are likely to lag behind because of the fact that information is readily on the internet for you. So, it’s not out of place if we try to give training to people who we think desire this training, and give them laptop for them to be able to work with it.”

The deputy speaker, who stressed that the gesture had nothing to do with his political career, promised that he would continue to strive for the development of youths in the society.
