Kaduna APC crisis: ACF blasts El-Rufai, Shehu Sani

The Secretary General of the Northern umbrella group, Arewa Consultative Forum, Mr. Anthony Sani, has lambasted Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and the Senator representing the Central Senatorial District of state, Mallam Shehu Sani, over the lingering political feud between the two top political office holders.

El-Rufai and Sani have been at loggerheads over some unresolved political differences.

Lately, the two warring political leaders have renewed their enmity with Sani alleging that Governor El-Rufai had connived with the police authorities in Kaduna to indict him in a murder case.

But the ACF secretary general described the governor and the senator’s belligerent attitude as inconsistent with the tenets of true democracy.

Sani said, “Those who say the actions of Senator Shehu Sani and Gov El-Rufai are inconsistent with how northerners know and play politics, are right.

“This is because northerners know that democracy is a contest of ideas and reasons and not a bull fight.”

He added that both politicians did not share the true ideology that their people believed in, adding that they had both failed to truly represent their people.

According to Sani, the governor and the senator had totally failed and disappointed their followers, who elected them as their leaders.

He added that the two were expected to promote democratic governance, but not to engage in political fisticuffs.

“The two are expected to promote democracy that is premised on a triple foundation of justice, liberty and common decency, and not imagine that they are in a sumo wrestling ring,” he said.
