Kano APC protests gov election results, demands removal of REC

The All Progressives Congress in Kano State on Wednesday staged a protest against the governorship election result in the state, demanding the immediate removal of the state Resident Electoral Commissioner.

Armed security men were deployed to guard the routes leading to the state INEC office. Notwithstanding, the protesters broke through the barricade, calling for a review of the results and the immediate removal of the REC.

Once in the premises of the INEC, the legal adviser to the state chapter of the party, Abdullahi Fagge, presented a letter to the representative of INEC, in which it also demanded that the election be reviewed.

The representative of the REC, Lawal Sani, who received the letter, promised prompt action to their demands.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party governorship candidate, Yusuf Kabir, was declared the governor-elect on Monday, defeating his APC counterpart, Nasir Gawuna.
