Kano residents defy Ganduje’s curfew, storm streets to celebrate NNPP’s victory

Residents of Kano State, on Monday morning, trooped into the street in a celebratory mood, defying the dawn to dusk curfew imposed on the state by governemnt.

They walked the streets to celebrate the victory of Abba Kabir, the NNPP’s governorship candidate.

The Kano State Government had ordered a dawn-to-dusk curfew to prevent a breakdown of law and order, owing to rising tension during the collation of results.

Kabir scored 1,019,602 votes to defeat his closest contender, Nasir Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress who polled 890,705 votes.

The results have generated tension in Kano, prompting the government’s proactive measures to avert chaos.
