Kashamu no longer relevant, Ogun group tells PDP presidential aspirants

…says he’s now a political lightweight in the state

group, Ogun Youth Consultative Vanguard, has advised presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party visiting the state to avoid any form of romance with the expelled Senator Buruji Kashamu faction.

The OYCV said it would amount to an illegality and anti-party activity for any presidential aspirant canvassing for the support of party members in the forthcoming national convention of the PDP to hold any meeting with Kashamu and members of his group, because they were no longer part of the PDP in the state.

The group in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Hon. Adeshina Ezekiel, and Secretary, Hon. Johnson Adetoun, gave the advice against the backdrop of the recent visit of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to the state as part of his visit to states across the country to solicit the support of all PDP members for his presidential aspiration.

Anyone or group still dealing with Kashamu and his group is only deceiving themselves

It said it gathered that during Saraki’s visit to the recognised Executive of the PDP in the state led by Hon. Sikirulahi Ogundele, the embattled Kashamu gathered some members of his group at a location in the state waiting to also be consulted by Saraki and his entourage.

The OYCV, however, said that after waited endlessly all day, the members of the group became disappointed, but Kashamu, their leader, reached out to the visiting Senate President, who later deployed one of his men on his entourage, Senator Dino Melaye, to meet with them.

The group, however, noted that holding any form of overt or covert meeting with Kashamu and his group would only jeopardise the chances of any aspirant in the forthcoming PDP presidential primaries.

It described Kashamu as a lightweight, who had since lost relevance in the PDP in Ogun and who no longer controlled any following within the PDP in the state, since his expulsion by the party from its
fold.

The OYCV statement partly read, “Against the backdrop of the recent development in the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, concerning the visit of the Senate President and presidential aspirant, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Ogun Youth Consultative Vanguard deems it fit to advise and warn all PDP presidential aspirants visiting Ogun State to avoid being dragged along into the political quagmire the expelled, embattled and party-less Senator Buruji Kashamu and his group have found themselves. We want to say with all certainty that Kashamu is a drowning man, who will hold on to the tiniest straw to remain afloat of the political waters in Ogun State.

“Since his expulsion from the PDP by the party’s NEC, Kashamu has lost the wind in his sail. He has become a paperweight, politically. He’s now a general without any troops in the PDP in Ogun State, in particular, and Nigeria as a whole. He’s no longer any force to reckon with. His ego has been deflated. Here is a man who has become desperate and has been trying every available means to keep his head above water. He’s now politically impotent and irrelevant.
Even the APC he’s been seriously romancing with and for which he was expelled from the PDP, has not accepted him. They spurned his recent desperate moves to defect to their fold. And that’s because they know him as a politician with the reputation of a bull in a China shop! They are not unaware of his penchant for making
trouble.

“So, anyone or group still dealing with Kashamu and his group in Ogun State and Nigeria with the erroneous thinking and belief that they are dealing with the PDP, is only deceiving themselves  and living in the past. Infact, a great shock and grief awaits such an individual or group of persons.
