Kidnappers murder LAUTECH undergraduate, hotelier after N5m ransom

About a week after they were kidnapped in Abaa community, Ogbomosho, Oyo State, the proprietor of Tana Suites Ogbomoso, Olugbenga Owolabi and one of his staff, Racheal Opadele, a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, have been reportedly killed by their abductors.

Besides, a commercial motorcyclist who conveyed a family member of the victims to the designated point for the ransom payment, was also murdered while his passenger was injured.

The kidnappers had demanded the sum of N100 million as ransom after the incident.

According to a family source, the family had negotiated with the abductors and arranged N5 million which was taken to the gunmen on Tuesday.

It was gathered that after the abductors confirmed the cash and obtained it, they shot the victims and didn’t spare the Okada rider.

The source further revealed that one of the family members of the duo who conveyed the money to them was also shot but escaped the scene with severe injuries.

The police were said to have deposited the remains of the victims at a morgue while the person who sustained gunshot injury, was said to have been taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, angered by the incident, residents of Abaa community have staged a protest and blockage major roads in the town.
