KSA to auction guitar on December 11

For fans of Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade, there is an opportunity to own the guitar of the music icon on the night of December 11.
In a concert tagged ‘Sunny On Sunday,’ a grand finale of his 70th birthday celebration, KSA would be auctioning the guitar he would use on the night.
In a recent encounter with The Point, KSA stated, “My heart, my body, my brain and soul is telling me that my best is to start on December 11. I have performed all over the world, but I have always said my best is yet to come. It is a different thing entirely. It would be difficult for you to call it a concert or movie. When you get to the venue, you will know. When it gets to the music, you will know. I would also be auctioning my guitar on that night.”
Also, on behalf of the King, the Chief Executive Officer, Temple Management Company, Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe, insisted that the guitar was a symbolic one, as it would be designed by a highly respected Nigerian artist, Victor Ehighale Ehihkamenor.
“I know that collectors know what this means. I am actually throwing this as a challenge to all Nigerians to start putting money together. Anywhere in the world, if someone of KSA’s calibre decides to auction his instrument, we all know the value that is on it.”
Olorunnimbe, whose company is saddled with the task of making ‘Sunny on Sunday’ come to life, stressed the importance of celebrating Nigerians who have done great things.
He noted, “KSA has done this for 50 years and he has been a King since 1977. He has remained on top of his game for 50 years, while some of the songs he sang many years ago are still relevant in 2016.
“We are celebrating the best of Nigeria and indeed the best of Africa. The plan is to confuse the audience on that day. We want them to wonder if the event is taking place in Lagos. The King has said he would give one of the best performances of his life.”
At present, TMC is trying to secure strategic partnerships in order to ensure that the concert is a world-class.
“MultiChoice has given the King a platform that includes a live broadcast of the concert, which is for nothing. Immediately we said it was KSA, they said they would give us all we want. We have also secured a deal with the management of the Federal Palace Hotel and Casino, Victoria Island, Lagos, for the event and hospitality. So far, every door we knocked in the name of KSA have opened and we were ushered in. This actually gives me a lot of joy,” the TMC boss explained.
