Labour Party legislator set to defect to PDP

A member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ethiope East Constituency, Chief Evans Ochuko Ivwurie, is set to defect to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

Ivwurie, who won election into the Assembly on the platform of the Labour Party, said that his romance with the minority party in the state had come to an end.

The lawmaker disclosed his intention to move from the LP to the PDP while addressing the people of his constituency in his private residence in Abraka.

He said it had become imperative for him to defect to the PDP because of the “pains and sufferings” his people had been going through.

Ivwurie, who is the Chairman of the Assembly’s House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, noted that in order for the people of his constituency to enjoy the dividends of democracy, they must be part of the mainstream politics in the state by joining a platform that would make that dream come true.
