Lagos cleric backs Peter Obi, knocks APC administration

BY SAMUEL FASUA

Fiery Lagos cleric, Prophet Lai Bamidele, on Sunday threw his weight behind the candidature of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as the best hand needed for a Nigerian rebirth.

Bamidele, who is General Overseer of Christ Glorious End-Time Evangelical Church, said the former Anambra State governor is the best candidate Nigeria has for now.

The cleric, who addressed journalists shortly after a special church service, being the crescendo of a prayer and fasting session, predicted that the aspiration of presidential candidates of both the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party would be a forlorn hope.

“Peter Obi is the best candidate Nigeria has for now. He is the most humble, and intelligent among the pack

“The best candidate APC would have used is Vice President Yemi Osibanjo. Giving the ticket to (Asiwaju Bola) Tinubu is like anointing the return of political thugs in power. (Former Vice President) Atiku Abubakar too is not good for the PDP,” he averred.

He described the last presidential primaries of the two leading parties in the country as a sham, noting that it was greatly compromised through vote buying and that “most Nigerians clearly saw through the facade”.

Bamidele recalled that he had once been on the same flight with Peter Obi, noting that the LP’s standard-bearer “is a bundle of humility.”

He particularly berated the almost eight-year administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as “disastrous to Nigeria as a country and to the Nigerian citizens.”

“The legacy this administration is leaving behind is mere buck-passing in which it regaled itself blaming the Jonathan and Obasanjo’s past government whereas the society is collapsing on its head.”

He further deplored the government for its inability to rein in bandits and terrorists kidnapping Nigerians in transit, describing the situation as a complete setback for the Nigerian image, as such would naturally scare away investors.

“Again, recall that the late General Sani Abacha once said that any government that can endure banditry for 24 hours had a hand in it, ” he stressed, noting that there was clear evidence of complicity in government quarters regarding the menace of terrorists in the country.

Bamidele urged Nigerian youths in their thousands to rise up, collect their voter cards and liberate themselves through the 2023 general elections.
