Lagos extends Okada ban to four more LGs, six LCDAs

BY MAYOWA SAMUEL

The Lagos State government has extended the ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles popularly called Okada to four more local councils and six local council development areas.

Announcing this on Thursday, the Commissioner for Transport, Frederic Oladeinde, said the decision to extend the ban in other areas was taken after a review of the earlier ban in six local councils.

According to the commissioner, the state government took the decision in the best interest of the generality of the residents and for security reasons.

The additional councils where the total Okada ban was pronounced include Kosofe Local Government, Oshodi-Isolo Local Government, Shomolu Local Government, and Mushin Local Government.

Others are Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Isolo LCDA, Bariga LCDA, and Odi-Olowo LCDA.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed full enforcement to commence from September 1, 2022.
