Lagos tops COVID-19 chart with 599 cases as Nigeria records 1,051 cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control says that Lagos State topped the COVID-19 chart with 599 new cases out of the 1,051 cases recorded in the country on Thursday.

The NCDC announced this on its website on Friday morning, stating that COVID-19 cases in Nigeria stood at 221,071.

The centre said that fatalities were not recorded in the country on Thursday.

It stressed that the pandemic had claimed 2,983 lives across the country since the outbreak in 2020.

The health agent added that the Federal Caoital Territory recorded 238 cases while Rivers State recorded 79 cases.

It said that Oyo State recorded 51 cases, Ondo (32), Plateau (20), Akwa Ibom (11), Ogun (7), Bayelsa (5), Kano (5), and Kwara (4).

The NCDC said that 211,345 had, so far, been discharged.

The NCDC indicated that a total of 3,686,403 people had been tested for the virus.

A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre, activated at Level II, continues to coordinate the national response activities, it stated.
