UNKNOWN gunmen have assassinated an All Progressives Congress chieftain in Kaduna State.

The slain Alamkah Dominic Usman was the APC’s chairmanship candidate for Kachia Local Government Area in the state.

He was shot dead by suspected bandits along Keffi-Akwanga Road in Nasarawa State, barely 72 hours to the
Local Government Elections in Kaduna, scheduled for Saturday, August 14.

The incident occurred on Monday when Usman was on his way to Benue State, according to findings.

He will be buried on Thursday, July 29.

Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) made the announcement on Wednesday, June 2.

The Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Sambo, said the polls would be conducted between 8am and 4pm.

The election of Chairmen and Councillors in all the 23 Local Government Areas was earlier fixed for Saturday, June 5.

It was postponed, owing to non-arrival of materials ordered from outside Nigeria.
